DURHAM, N. Kyle Okposo Jersey .C. -- Dukes shooting cooled as the game wore on while its defence had trouble consistently slowing down Gardner-Webbs hot shooting. Then again, Hall of Fame coach Mike Krzyzewski said, it was an OK performance for a team coming off such a long break. Freshman Jabari Parker scored 21 points to help No. 8 Duke beat Gardner-Webb 85-66 on Monday night in its first game in nearly two weeks. Andre Dawkins added a season-high 18 points for the Blue Devils (8-2), who hadnt played since beating Michigan on Dec. 3 in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge. That break, which included final exams, came after a tough stretch of four games in 10 days that included a loss to top-ranked Arizona in the NIT Season Tip-Off championship and a one-point home win over Vermont just before Thanksgiving. "You dont stop playing for two weeks and not have some slippage," Krzyzewski said. "But overall I was pleased with our team." Duke wont have to wait nearly as long to get back on the court. The Blue Devils face UCLA on Thursday in New York in their last game before the Christmas holiday. Duke had its good and bad moments in this one, though it led by a comfortable margin all game. The offence roared to a fast start with accurate shooting and unselfish basketball, though things slowed down after halftime. The defence didnt do much to slow the Runnin Bulldogs (6-6) in the first half, but Krzyzewski said the Blue Devils played better on that end in the second half. Duke led by 14 points at halftime and by 23 in the second half on the way to earning its 108th straight home nonconference victory. Parker said the Blue Devils had a "a little bit of a setback" when it came to talking to each other on the defensive end. "For the Michigan game we were really awake and aware of their players," Parker said. "But this game we kind of let them go to their tendencies and we saw it played out well for them." Quinn Cook, who had 16 points and nine assists for Duke, noticed something else as the Blue Devils couldnt miss on the offensive end through the first 14 1/2 minutes. "I think when we get it going offensively like that, we kind of get lazy on defence," Cook said. "We had it going early so we got lazy. But at some point, weve got to just get it out of our system." Duke made 17 of its first 23 shots (74 per cent) with 14 assists on those baskets before finishing the half at nearly 59 per cent. The Blue Devils shot just 8 for 22 (36 per cent) after halftime and finished the game at 50 per cent, though they hit nine 3-pointers and converted 15 offensive rebounds into 13 second-chance points. Jerome Hill scored a career-high 22 points on 9-for-10 shooting to go with nine rebounds to lead Gardner-Webb, which shot nearly 63 per cent in the opening half before finishing at 54 per cent for the game. "We played pretty good offensively the entire first half," Gardner-Webb coach Tim Craft said. "Unfortunately we couldnt get any stops on the other end." Parker finished 7 of 12 from the field with six rebounds in 26 minutes. Dawkins, a fifth-year senior guard who sat out last season while he dealt with his sisters death during his freshman year, finished 6 of 10 from the field, including 4-for-8 shooting from 3-point range. He knocked down his first four shots to help Duke to its fast start, which included a 7-0 burst in the span of a minute. Tyler Thornton knocked down a 3 off an inbounds pass and Parker following with a jumper in the lane and a dunk on an alley-oop feed from Cook to make it 46-25 with 5 1/2 minutes left in the first half. The only problem for Duke? Gardner-Webb didnt miss much, either. Gardner-Webb got as close as 56-44 on Hills layup with 17:07 left, but Rodney Hood (15 points) answered with a three-point play to turn away what amounted to Gardner-Webbs closest push. Dawkins followed with a 3 a minute later for a 62-46 lead, and Duke led by at least 16 the rest of the night. The Blue Devils took their largest lead at 74-51 on Parkers free throws with 10:42 left. Josh Gorges Jersey . Pedroia reached the milestone with a little panache, hitting a grand slam in the sixth inning and propelling the Boston Red Sox to a 7-1 win over the Oakland Athletics on Friday night. Pierre Turgeon Jersey ." Bach is in Rome for the European Olympic Committees general assembly and meetings with Pope Francis. He also visited with Italian Premier Enrico Letta. "The prime minister appeared to be interested in a bid from Italy for 24, because he has realized that the games can serve as a catalyst for development for a city and a country," Bach told The Associated Press on Saturday.TORONTO -- As the clock ticked down the final 30 minutes of Brazils 2-1 victory over Chile on Tuesday, virtually every fan in the lower bowl of Rogers Centre was on their feet. With brilliant passing, dazzling skills, and blazing runs, the Brazilians didnt disappoint in their first visit to Canada in nearly two decades. And afterward, Brazils coach Luis Felipe Scolari thanked the Canadian crowd for the warm reception. "I dont think there were any Canadians, I saw Chileans and Brazilians," Scolari joked, then added: "Probably there was a lot of Canadians there and we received in our hearts the love that they provided to us." Hulk and Robinho scored to lift the five-time World Cup champions over Chile in a soccer friendly that was both part of World Cup preparations and a spirited clash between two South American sides. "They played very well," Scolari said through a translator. "You could see that we created several opportunities for goals. We didnt have more than two goals, but we had seven or eight opportunities, and I think that we played well." Hulk scored in the 14th minute, the goal coming after Oscar intercepted a pass out of Chiles backfield. Oscar sent a long cross to Hulk, who launched a left-footed shot past keeper Claudio Bravo. Robinho gave the Brazilians the lead in the 80th minute when he headed in a perfectly-placed goalmouth cross from Maicon. Eduardo Vargas scored Chiles lone goal in the 71st minute, taking a short pass from Jean Beausejour and launching a long shot that tucked just inside the left corner, catching Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar flatfooted. A chanting, singing crowd of 38,514 packed the Rogers Centre, dressed in either the canary yellow jerseys of Brazil or the red and white of La Roja (The Red One). If there was any negative on the night, it was the temporary grass field. Two days after the stadium hosted the CFL East Division final on turf, real grass had been rolled out for the friendly, and while it looked decent at first glance, it clearly wasnt. Early in the game, Brazilian defender David Luiz picked up and replaced a huge chunk of dislodged turf, and then stamped it down with his foot. A few minutes later, two Brazilians could be seen replacing a chunk of turf the size of a large pizza box. Nearly a dozen officials spent the halftime break tamping down loose pieces. "I think that for us and for the Chileans, it was difficult," Scholari said, adding the turf should have been laid earlier than Monday. "The turf was not one that permits the ball to runn as fast as a player like (Brazil striker) Neymar could take advantage of. Custom Buffalo Sabres Jerseys. " The match featured some of the games biggest stars -- 21-year-old Neymar, and Chiles Alexis Sanchez being just two. It also marked Brazils final match of 2013 and part of the teams preparations for the 2014 World Cup in its home country -- which coach Scolari promised last week that Brazil, already five-time World Cup champions, will win. The No. 11-ranked Brazilians -- one spot ahead of Chile in the most recent FIFA world rankings -- scored on the only shot on net in the first half. But both teams came alive in a fast-paced final 45 minutes, that saw numerous near-misses including a 20-yard bullet that Hulk banged off the crossbar in the 56th minute. Brazil had 12 shots to Chiles three, and six shots on target, while Chile had one. "What I take from this game is the courage, the willingness, the desire that our team showed, to play head-to-head with one of the best teams in the world. . . on a field that wasnt in the best conditions," Chilean coach Jorge Sampaoli said through an interpreter. "We were playing against a team whose subs, if you look at the names, are some of the top players in the world." The Brazilian contingent in the crowd roared whenever Neymar, a striker for Barcelona, had the ball, including a spectacular 60-yard run in the first half that saw him finally lose possession on Chiles end line. Neymar looked poised to score in the 83rd minute, when he was one-on-one with Chiles keeper, only to trip over the ball in the 18-yard box. The game was part of the Gillette International Soccer Series, and Toronto was a logical venue based on the citys large Brazilian and Chilean communities. Dozens of flags of both countries hung from the railings around the stadium. The game was Brazils first appearance in Canada since June of 1994 when they had to settle for a 1-1 tie   Commonwealth Stadium. Brazil came into Tuesdays game on a roll, unbeaten in five games, and the Confederations Cup champions after a 3-0 victory in the final over World Cup champs Spain. And on Saturday in Miami, Brazil routed Honduras 5-0. Chile, meanwhile, has also had some strong results, including a 2-0 win over England in a friendly Friday at Wembley Stadium that ended Englands 10-game unbeaten streak. NOTES: An all-Canadian crew officiated the game, led by referee Silviu Petrescu. . . Some 80 South American journalists -- 50 from Brazil and 30 from Chile -- were in Toronto to cover the game. Cheap NFL Jerseys Cheap NFL Jerseys China Cheap Jerseys From China Cheap NFL Jerseys Authentic Wholesale Jerseys China Cheap NFL Jerseys China NFL Cheap Jerseys ' ' '
MALMO, Sweden - Ending a four-year run without a gold medal wont be easy for Canada at the world junior hockey championship. Bernard King Jersey . The quest begins with what is supposed to be an easy one, although Germany has traditionally been a stubborn opponent to Canadian teams at international tournaments. "Youve got to expect theyll be structured and hard working," coach Brent Sutter said Wednesday after a one-hour skate at the cosy Isstadion, where they face the Germans on Thursday. "Theyll be ready to play. "That game is the biggest game to date we have. It doesnt matter our opponent, its how we have to play. Lets make sure were responsible." You can watch all the action live on TSN beginning at 7am et/4am pt. Pre-tournament exhibition games against Finland, Sweden and Switzerland showed that while the Canadian squad — led by Halifax Mooseheads star Jonathan Drouin — will be among the better teams in the 10-team event, it doesnt have the speed and offensive flash of some of the 15 Canadian teams that won gold in the past. The host team Sweden, with at least 10 players returning from a squad that won silver last year in Ufa, Russia, looks like the team to beat, especially after the 3-0 beating they put on Canada in an exhibition game last week. The Swedes are in the opposite first-round group and will play at the newer, much larger Malmo Arena. Canada has only three players back from the 2013 tournament. They include Drouin, Jake Paterson (who didnt dress for any games in Ufa as the third goalie), and defenceman Griffin Reinhart, who is suspended for the first three games this year from a slashing incident in last years semifinals. The loss in Ufa ended Canadas 14-year run of top-three finishes at the tournament officially called the IIHF world under-20 championship. This years squad is younger than most, and should be a showcase for three players not even eligible to be drafted by the NHL yet. First among them is Connor McDavid, the dazzling 16-year-old playmaker and scoring star of the Erie Otters who will not be eligible for the draft until 2015. There is also forward Sam Reinhart of the Kootenay Ice, the younger brother of Griffin Reinhart, along with big defenceman Aaron Ekblad of the Barrie Colts. They may go one-two in the 2014 draft. Sutter has McDavid and Reinhart on the wings with centre Bo Horvat, an imposing Vancouver Canucks prospect from the London Knights. They were the only line to stay together through the teams three pre-tournament games. Reinhart turned 18 in November and is not a true "underage" junior, and Sutter uses him as he would a seasoned veteran. In exhibition play, he played the power play and on the penalty kill. In one instance when Canada was short-handed two men, he was the lone forward on the ice. "Hes an all-purpose player," said Sutter. "He just knows how to play the game. "Hes an intelligent player and his paying attention to details in all sorts of situations is very high. As a coach, youre very comfortable playing him in whatever situation that occurs." Reinhart is used to the ice time with Kootenay and was a captain on Canadian under-18 teams, so he likes the responsibility Sutter has given him. "It gives you confidence for opening night," he said. "We took some games to find our mentality and what well bring to the first one. "We feel confident in our game right now. The focus has turned onto the first game against Germany and were looking forward to it." The exhibition games were a test for Drouin, the third overall pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning last June. Sutter blasted him for a weak showing against Sweden, even though it was Drouins first game since suffering a concussion in a league game with Halifax on Dec. 8. He was moved from left wing to centre for the final exhibition against the Swiss and played better. "Brent said some stuff," said Drouin, who will likely centre big winger Anthony Mantha and the defensively solid Taylor Leier of the Portland Winterhawks. "I know I played bad and didnt help the team. "I had to step up my game against the Swiss and I think I did. I feel better. The first game was a little rough. Its been three weeks (since he played) and its different from major junior. Its way more fast, but I think the second game was better." Another question to be settled was in goal, and Sutter believes hes found his man in Paterson of the Saginaw Spirit, who will start against Germany. The Mooseheads Zach Fucale will start the tournament as the backup, but Sutter expects both will see action in the tournament. Other lines are likely to have Nic Petan of Portland between Curtis Lazar of the Edmonton Oil Kings and Kerby Rychel of the Gueph Storm; and captain Scott Laughton of the Oshawa Generals with Frederik Gauthier of the Rimouski Oceanic and Josh Anderson of the Knights. Charles Hudon of the Chicoutimi Sagueneens may slot in the Drouin line. The defence will likely be rearranged when Griffin Reinhart returns Dec. 31 against the Americans. Sutter has been trying various combinations for a group that includes Ekblad, Matt Dumba of the Minnesota Wild, Chris Bigras of the Owen Sound Attack, McDavids Erie teammate Adam Pelech, Josh Morrissey of the Prince Albert Raiders and Derrick Pouliot of Portland. Without a high-powered attack, there has been much talk of playing "Boston Bruins hockey," which despite popular perception does not mean hammering everyone who moves, but rather working the puck up the ice in tight, five-man units and playing a controlled two-way game. "It is the makeup of our team," said Sutter, who won gold with a similar group in 2006. "We have to support each other. "We cant be a spread-out team thats playing one zone and two zones ahead. We have to be coming out of zones together and using each other. When one guy has the puck, the other four have to be options and be available for plays. And we have to be smart when were hitting the red line. We cant have turnovers." The game against Germany is a chance to see flashy forward Leon Draisaitl, who is Morrisseys teammate in Prince Albert. Draisaitl is a projected top-10 pick in 2014. They played against one another at the under-18 championship, and Morrissey said they have been joking about meeting again at the world juniors. "Hes a really skilled player," the Calgary native said. "Weve become almost best friends on our team. "Hes got phenomenal vision. I think he plays like (Anze) Kopitar. He likes (Pavel) Datsyuk a lot. All I can say is hes an unreal player."   Carmelo Anthony Jersey . -- Jose Bautista never worries about hitting homers during the regular season. Frank Ntilikina Jersey . WASHINGTON -- Mets pitcher Zack Wheeler was working in and out of trouble in the early going against the Washington Nationals, walking four batters and allowing a run on a wild pitch. Tobin Heath Jersey . So he asked catcher Travis dArnaud and pitching coach Dan Warthen a simple question: "Do you all see anything?" Warthen went into the clubhouse to check some video from Tuesday nights game and noticed Wheeler was "collapsing" instead of "throwing downhill," as the right-hander put it. Thanks to that mid-game adjustment to his delivery -- and Washingtons own miscues, including one runner hit by a batted ball and another thrown out at the plate -- Wheeler pitched 6 2-3 innings to win his fourth consecutive decision, helping the Mets beat the NL East-leading Nationals 6-1. "I didnt have my best stuff. And it wasnt very fun. But youve got to find a way through it," said Wheeler (7-8), who contributed a broken-bat RBI single at the plate. "Youre mad at yourself, and youre trying to figure out what it is. I wouldnt say its mentally draining, but its just frustrating." Relying on a fastball consistently in the high 90s mph because his curveball wasnt working, Wheeler was good enough on a muggy night when the temperature was 85 degrees at first pitch. The righty went 3-8 with a 4.45 ERA in his first 16 starts, but is 4-0 with a 1.59 ERA in seven appearances since June 30. "This kid has really, really gotten better," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "I mean, as he continues to improve, the skys the limit." Said Washingtons Jayson Werth: "That was the best Ive seen him. I dont know how many times Ive seen him, but his velocity was a lot higher than I remember." Werth led off the sixth with a double. When Adam LaRoche followed with a single to left, third base coach Bob Henley sent Werth home. Left fielder Eric Campbell threw out Werth with a one-hop toss; the call stood after a replay review to check whether dArnaud blocked the plate. "It changed the whole game right there," said Daniel Murphy, who pushed New Yorks lead to 4-1 with a two-run single in the seventh off Drew Storen. Nationals lefty Gio Gonzalez (6-8) was charged with four runs and six hits over six-plus innings. He put two runners on to begin the seventh, then shook his head as he walked off the mound when manager Matt Williams yanked him with Wheeler coming to the plate. Asked if he was upset that he was removed there, Gonzalez replied: "I wanted to face the pitcher, yes." TRAINERS ROOM: Mets: Closer Jenrry Mejia "tweaked his back" in Mondays loss against San Francisco, Collins said, calling the relievers status day to day. Right-hander Matt Harvey, recovering from reconstructive elbow surgery, threw off a mound for the first time since the operation, and Collins said the pitcher felt fine after Tuesdays session in Florida. Nationals: Third baseman Ryan Zimmerman, on the DL since injuring his right hamstring July 22, has a grade-three strain and could miss six weeks, general manager Mike Rizzo said. Williams thinks Zimmerman -- who began walking on a water treadmill Monday -- could return during the regular season. UP NEXT: Mets: Wednesdays starter, left-hander Jonathan Niese (5-7, 3.24 ERA), lasted only four innings in his last appearance at Nationals Park, allowing five runs in a 5-2 Mets loss May 16. Nationals: The Nationals start righty Doug Fister (10-3, 2.68 ERA). Might second baseman Danny Espinosa get back into the lineup after giving way to trade deadline pickup Cabrera? Espinosa is 5 for 12 (a .417 average) against Niese. WHAT A CATCH: Mets centre fielder Juan Lagares ended the seventh with a head-first diving catch of a sinking liner by Denard Span. Lagares got the wind knocked out of him on the play and was checked on in the outfield by Collins and a trainer but stayed in the game.Carli Lloyd Jersey .C. -- Kurt Busch put his chances at "70 per cent" at running the Indianapolis 500 this year because of recent developments that have pushed a potential program along. Sam Mewis Jersey . -- Tony Finau won the Stonebrae Classic on Sunday for his first Web.The Vancouver Whitecaps rounded out Carl Robinsons technical staff by appointing Martyn Pert as the clubs new assistant coach. Pert has formerly spent time as an assistant coach with Cardiff City, Coventry City, and Bahrain mens national team. "Martyn is a highly-respected coach with experience at the top levels in England," said Whitecaps FC head coach Carl Robinson. Hector Bellerin believes second place is still a possibility for Arsenal and finishing above Tottenham would be a bonus. Robert Woods Jersey . Arsene Wengers side are third in the Premier League table, three points behind their North London rivals Tottenham with two games left of the season.Spurs kick off at 1:30pm against Southampton on Super Sunday, and should they lose, Arsenal would go equal on points with them if they beat fourth-placed Manchester City in the 4pm match. Bellerin, who was the only Arsenal player to be a part of the PFA Team of the Year, feels that although third is the realistic target for the rest of the season, second is by no means out of the question. Pick your team Aguero? Ozil? De Bruyne? Pick your Fantasy Six-a-Side team for the chance to win £10,000 For us, its important to finish third, or even second, he exclusively told Sky Sports.Obviously, as a team we want to finish as high as we can, and in a good moment to be ready for next season. Weve got to start with these three points at the Etihad and the team is really focused on that. Bellerin feels it would make for a better end to the season if Arsenal can finish above Tottenham in the league The Spain international admits that finishing the season above Spurs in the table would be satisfying for the players and the fans if they can achieve it.As an Arsenal player, there is always that motivation [to beat Tottenham], he said. Its something the fans would probably be looking forward to. As players, we need to fight for it as well.It doesnt only depend on us of course. We know they have their games to play and have to win them as well so well do our end of the job and were going to hope for the best. Bellerin does not feel Arsene Wenger deserves the criticism he has received this season Bellerin, who has made 34 Premier League appearances during the 2015/16 campaign, also feels manager Arsene Wenger does not deserve the criticism that he gets despite a disappointing season where Arsenal cannot win a trophy. He explained: Every single manager can have a good season or a bad one but at the end of the day its us the players who have to get on with the job.You cannot blame one person or 11, you just need to look at the club or the people to see whats missing, and once you get the right answer, you need to perform on the pitch. You can see the interview in full on Super Sunday - Manchester City v Arsenal - from 3.30pm on Sky Sports 1. The Jays responded to the three-spot Detroit placed on Casey Janssen the evening before with an attack on the Tigers Achilles Heel, its bullpen, tying the game in the ninth and winning the game in the 10th. The result absolved Marcus Stroman, brilliant once again, of a tough luck loss while at the same time robbing Max Scherzer, brilliant once again, of a deserved win.DETROIT -- Brad Ausmus saw the ball come off Brian McCanns bat and sail toward the foul pole in right field, a potentially devastating drive with the game tied in the ninth inning. "From where I was standing you could tell it was kind of hooking," said Ausmus, Detroits first-year manager. "Pretty quickly off the bat, I was pretty confident it was going foul." It ended up foul by a few feet, and Phil Coke went on to strike McCann out. Then the Tigers took advantage of the reprieve, scoring in the bottom of the ninth to beat the New York Yankees 3-2 on Thursday. Alex Avilas two-out single off the wall in right gave Detroit the victory. The Tigers, still chasing Kansas City for the AL Central lead, pulled even with Seattle in the race for the American Leagues second wild card. The Yankees are three games back. A day after David Price gave up nine straight hits, the Tigers sent Kyle Lobstein to the mound for his first major league start. The rookie performed well, allowing one earned run in six innings. Then Detroits bullpen held off New York until the Tigers scored in the ninth off Shawn Kelley (2-5). Victor Martinez led off with a double through a shifted infield, then Kelley walked J.D. Martinez before striking out Nick Castellanos and pinch-hitter Torii Hunter. Avila followed with a drive to right that Ichiro Suzuki couldnt quite get to. Kelley flung his glove to the ground as soon as Avila connected. "Thats about as bad as Ive felt walking off a mound in my career," Kelley said. "I got myself in a hole, but then I got the two outs I needed, and I had a chance to keep the team alive. But I hung a slider, and Alex Avila can hit that pitch. Most guys can hit that pitch." Coke (2-2) got one very eventful out for the win. Hiroki Kuroda allowed two runs and four hits in seven innings for New York, but hes still without a victory over the Tigers in his career. Hes beaten baseballs other 29 teams. Avila opened the scoring in the second with a sacrifice fly, then Jacoby Ellsbury tied it in the third with an RBI single. McCanns RBI groundout in the fourth put New York ahead, and Rajai Davis tied it with a run-scoring single in the fifth. Jamon Brown Jersey. CRUCIAL START With Anibal Sanchez still recovering from an injury -- and doubleheaders on the schedule last weekend and this weekend -- the Tigers have needed spot starts from some less familiar names. Robbie Ray and Buck Farmer both failed to get out of the second inning late last week, but Lobstein was solid, allowing only four hits and a walk. "Its a close race and theyre trying to win every game," he said. "I understood that, but at the same time, youve just got to go out there and treat it as any other day." Lobstein was optioned to Triple-A Toledo after the game. The Tigers purchased the contract of right-hander Evan Reed from the Mud Hens. Ausmus announced that LHP Kyle Ryan will make his major league debut Saturday when he starts as part of a doubleheader against the Chicago White Sox. OFFENSIVE WOES: Since that eight-run inning against Price, the Yankees have scored only two runs in 15 innings -- and that was against the unproven Lobstein and Detroits erratic bullpen. At one point Thursday, New York made 16 straight outs. TRAINERS ROOM Yankees: RHP Masahiro Tanaka was on the field before the game throwing 49 pitches in a simulated game. Manager Joe Girardi said Tanaka was able to use all his pitches. The Japanese star hasnt pitched since July 8 because of a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament. Tigers: RHP Joakim Soria (left oblique strain) threw off flat ground Tuesday and Wednesday and felt no pain. He is scheduled to throw again Friday at a longer distance. ... RHP Luke Putkonen was scheduled to begin an injury rehabilitation assignment with Class A West Michigan on Thursday night. He has been sidelined since April 19 because of right elbow inflammation. UP NEXT Yankees: Chris Capuano (1-3) takes the mound Friday night in the opener of a three-game series at Toronto. BUFFALO, N. Mike Remmers Super Bowl Jersey .Y. -- The overhaul is continuing in Buffalo after Sabres coach Ted Nolan purged most of his staff of assistants on Wednesday. Goalie coach Jim Corsi will not return, and assistant Teppo Numminens contract will not be renewed, the Sabres announced. Two other assistants, Joe Sacco and Jerry Forton, have a choice to stay with the Sabres after being offered jobs within the teams hockey department. The moves came three days after the Sabres (21-51-10) finished last in the standings, and closed one the worst and most tumultuous seasons in their 44-year history. The shake-up doesnt come as a surprise. Nolan inherited the staff in November, after being hired on an interim basis to replace Ron Rolston. Nolan has since been signed to a three-year contract and it was widely anticipated that he would begin hiring his own staff this off-season. Former NHL goalie Arturs Irbe is regarded a potential candidate to join Nolans staff. Irbe is from Latvia and has previously worked with Nolan, who has spent the past three years coaching the countrys national team. Corsi was the Sabres longest tenured assistant after completing his 16th season in Buffalo. He played a role in mentoring former Sabres great Dominik Hasek and then Ryan Miller, who was traded to St. Louis on Feb. 28. Numminen, a former NHL defenceman, completed his third season in Buffalo after being first hired by former Sabres coach Lindy Ruff. Sacco, the former Colorado Avalanche head coach, and Forton were hired by Rolston last off-season. In the meantime, Sacco will be working as an assistant under United States coach Peter Laviolette at the World Hockey championships in Belarus next month. The Sabres also announced theyre adding a second minor-league affiliate after reaching a deal with Elmira (N.Y.) of the ECHL. Elmira will complement the Sabres top affiliate, AHL Rochester. Both minor-league teams are located within 150 miles of Buffalo. Buffalo is in the midst of rebuilding from scratch. Through a series of trades, the Sabres have stockpiled a significant number of draft picks spread over the next three years, spurring the teams need to add another affiliate. Cris Carter Super Bowl Jersey . Grabovski, 30, has been a productive centre, scoring 160 points in 261 games over the past four seasons, which ranks 98th among NHL forwards. While that alone is a decent indication of Grabovskis ability to contribute as a second-line centre, hes put up terrific relative possession numbers in four of the last five seasons, the only exception being in 2012-2013 with the Toronto Maple Leafs, when he was effectively buried in a defensive role. That led to his being bought out by the Maple Leafs in one of the more ridiculous decisions in the history of NHL contract buyouts. One year after he was bought out by the Maple Leafs and could only drum up enough interest to secure a one-year, $3-million deal as a free agent, Grabovski signed for four years and $20-million with the Isles. Going to the Islanders should offer Grabovski an opportunity to get favourable matchups, with zone starts tilted towards the offensive zone and softer opposition while opponents send their best at John Tavares line and the Islanders put Frans Nielsens line out for the toughest defensive assignments. Grabovski has scored 20 or more goals three times and topped 50 points twice. His career points per game of 0.59 works out to 48 points over an 82-game schedule, so maybe something around a 50-point season is the best-case scenario, but if Grabovski can put up between 40 and 50 points with typically strong possession stats over the course of his contract, he will be a solid addition for the Islanders. Grabovskis departure from Washington leaves a hole at second-line centre, one that still needs to be filled, unless Marcus Johansson or Evgeny Kuznetsov fit into that spot. Kulemin is a 27-year-old winger who scored 30 goals and 57 points riding shotgun with Grabovski for the Maple Leafs in 2010-2011, but has failed to generate much offence siince, scoring 23 goals and 71 points in 188 games. Riley Reiff Super Bowl Jersey. But, to be fair, Kulemin has been stuck in a defensive role for the past couple seasons, with primarily defensive zone starts against quality opposition. While Kulemin hasnt scored a bunch in the NHL, particularly recently, hes produced enough to believe that there is more offence to be uncovered. He has 11 points in 20 games for Russia at the past two World Championships and 38 points in 36 KHL games while playing alongside Evgeni Malkin, so its not like Kulemin cant find his way around the offensive zone, but he likely needs a centre that will be the creator offensively. With the expectation that Kulemin will skate with Grabovski, he too should benefit from more offensive zone starts and favourable matchups. Maybe that results in Kulemin scoring 35-to-40 points (that 57-point season in 2010-2011 sure appears to be an aberration) and if that comes with solid two-way play then, even at his lofty price, Kulemin can be a worthy acquisition for the Isles. Toronto didnt seem to be in position to pay Kulemin, and they shouldnt have, based on how he was being used. Wingers that are deployed like Kulemin dont tend to get paid. Kulemins contract also runs for four years, paying him $16.75-million, which is a lot given his recent production, but if he gets more of an offensive opportunity, Kulemin has a decent shot at producing enough offensively to justify that price, which is fair for a second-line winger. All in all, this is an aggressive move by the Islanders and suddenly gives them terrific depth up front. So much that they likely need to find room on the wing for young guns like Brock Nelson and Ryan Strome, but its an enviable problem to have so much talent that some of your centres need to find room to play on the wing. Their defence can still get better, but these signings put the Islanders into the mix among playoff contenders for next season. NHL and NHLPA executives are expected to announce on Friday the details of the rekindled World Cup of Hockey, a tournament that will feature eight teams, including two unconventional ones. Giovanni Fiore Jersey . Besides Canada, the U.S., Russia, Sweden, the Czech Republic and Finland, the league and union will announce a European All-Star team will participate. That team will be stocked with players who come from countries other than those participating as nations. Also, the tournament will feature a team with North American players under the age of 23. An executive with an NHL sponsor confirmed the details to TSN. The tournament will also feature a best-of-three final, which will help to drive up the broadcast and sponsor rights for the tournament both in North America and Europe. The National Hockey League and its players association have told team executives they hope to generate between $75 million and $100 million from the rekindled World Cup of Hockey. A person familiar with the matter told TSN that the tournament, which is scheduled to be held in September 2016, will raise about half its revenue from the sale of broadcast and internet streaming rights. The NHL and NHLPA have predicted those rights may garner close to $50 million. Its a gamble to spend so much on a tournament like the World Cup when theres no guarantee Team Canada will advance beyond the round robin portion. But if it does, there could be a big payoff in TV ratings. The final of the World Cup will be a best-of-three format, TSN has learned. Besides TV rights, the NHL and NHLPA will also sell sponsorship rights to the World Cup. They anticipate selling to eight premier corporate sponsors and negotiating deals of at least $1.5 million in each category, a source told TSN. The NHL and NHLPA will also garner revenue from ticket and merchandise sales. However, its expected that the NHL and the Players Association will have to pay Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment at least $5 million for hosting the three-week tournament. While executives with the Montreal Canadiens wanted to host some of the World Cup games at the Bell Centre, the NHL and its players union decided to host all of the games in Toronto. That way, if the tournament is a success, they could auction off the rights to host the games in 2019, perhaps, to the city that offers the best revenue guarantee - be it Montreal, New York, Stockholm, Moscow, or another city. To be sure, there are still many unanswered questions about how much profit the NHL and players union will generate from the World Cup. They need to pay for insurance for all of the players. Typically, the NHL and the Players Association buy premiums that offer better coverage than simply career-ending policies. Payouts are rare, but they do happen. The Islanders John Tavares, for instance, was covered by an insurance policy when he was injured during the Winter Olympics earlier this year in Sochi, Russia. The Islanders were compensated by an insurance company for the time he missed. Its unclear how much insurance will cost the NHL and NHLPA. Then Hockey Canada president Bob Nicholson said last August that it would cost at least $1 million simply to pay for insurance for the 47 Canadian players invited to Team Canada workouts in advance of the Winter Olympics. NHL player agent Allan Walsh said some NHL players have been skeptical over whether its a good idea to steer away from the national team concept. Some players believe this should be limited to players playing for their country, Walsh told TSN. What are you playing for if its Team Young Guns or European All Stars? What are you playing for? Thats a problem. Its an issue. Walsh said featuring a young guns team particularly could lead to lopsided scores. The downside is that team gets pounded, Walsh said. I dont think it would have an impact on the players psychology or career - just an impact on the legitimacy of the team in the tournament, when people sit back and say whether this kind of team was a good or bad idea. Still, Walsh and other agents said there could be a great payoff for the league from marketing a team built around young stars like Nathan McKinnon, Connor McDavid and Jonathan Drouin. Walsh said that while some fans have called for the NHL and NHLPA to include teams from Slovakia or Slovenia, that might not be practical, since the tournament is run by the league and its players association - both of which want to use the event to build the profile of their own players, not those playing in leagues overseas. Chris Wagner Jersey . LAWRENCE, Kan. Austin Johnson Jersey . -- Naadir Tharpe finally got to stand in the middle of the court at Allen Fieldhouse, bask in the adulation of another sellout crowd and celebrate a conference championship. The junior guard, who wrapped up his first two Big 12 titles on the road, had 19 points to lead five Kansas players in double figures Monday night, and the fifth-ranked Jayhawks held off Oklahoma 83-75 to ensure a share of their 10th consecutive league crown. "Just a great feeling," Tharpe said. "To be at home, to hear the fans and all that, its a beautiful feeling. It just shows the tradition of Kansas and what it means to us." Wayne Selden and Andrew Wiggins added 15 points each, and Joel Embiid had 12 points and 13 rebounds for the Jayhawks (22-6, 13-2), who poured off the bench at the buzzer to celebrate the latest addition to their nation-leading 57 conference titles. It might be the only one for Wiggins and Embiid, the dynamic freshman duo projected to be lottery picks if they come out this season. Wiggins has already stated his intention to do so. "Winning the championship," Wiggins said, "just a great feeling on the court." Only two schools in mens Division I basketball have won more consecutive conference titles than Kansas: UCLA captured 13 straight from 1967-79 in the Pac-10, and Gonzaga won 11 straight in the West Coast Conference from 2001-11. "Its something you know," Selden said. "When you come in here, thats the standard." Cameron Clark had 18 points and Buddy Hield finished with 16 for the Sooners (20-8, 9-6), who have lost 12 of their last 13 games against the Jayhawks, including both this season. Oklahoma still has not won in the Phog since 1993, when Billy Tubbs was on its sideline. "Its so tough here for a lot of reasons," current Sooners coach Lon Kruger said. "Bill does a great job, theyre very talented, the atmosphere is great, the difference really is in the runs they make, and thats what you have to avoid. Easier said than done." The first half Monday night boiled down to an old-fashioned Big Eight tussle. The Jayhawks threw the first body punch, picking up right where they left off in a rout of Texas by taking a 15-4 lead. Oklahoma answered with a few haymakers of its own, going on a 13-2 charge and eventually pulling ahead 27-25 with 5:26 left in the half. Selden took over down the stretch, though, scoring seven straight points to give Kansas the lead back. Frank Masons three-pointer capped a 10-0 surge and made it 42-33 at halftime. "We handled the ball well, made tough plays, but two or three stretches is why Kansas is so tough," Kruger said. "We gave them moments of run that you have to try to avoid." The Jayhawks, arguably the deepest team in the Big 12, forged their lead despite playing without a handful of players due to foul trouble. Wiggins, Tharpe, Perry Ellis, who finished with 11 points, and Jamari Traylor all had two fouls, and Connor Frankamp was on the bench with three. Wiggins picked up his third on the first play of the second half, when Ryan Spangler drove to the basket for an and-one. It was the start of a 10-2 run that got the Sooners back in the game. "They made a couple shots, we made a couple shots," Clark said, "but the main thing is we didnt take care of the ball at critical times." Clarks hot shooting and a couple of timely three-pointers by Hield gave Oklahoma the lead, only for Kansas to come back once more. Wiggins scored on a putback of his own miss with 8:01 left to give the Jayhawks a 60-59 lead, and their advantage grew to 69-63 a few minutes later. The Sooners kept finding answers. When Wiggins hit a three-pointer to make it 74-66, Isaiah Cousins promptly scored in the paint. When Tharpe got a home-rim bounce on a pull-up jumper, Hield was there to hit a fall-away three-pointer to close within 76-71 with 1:30 left. Oklahoma simply ran out of time, and as the final seconds ticked off the clock, another sellout crowd at the Phog began to chant, "Ten straight! Ten straight!" "In a league this competitive, thought by many to be the toughest league in the country, to have a three-game lead with three to play is pretty special," Kansas coach Bill Self said. Steve McNair Jersey . MLSs 19th franchise kicked off their eve of game preparations very early Friday morning with news that 2012s first overall SuperDraft pick Andrew Wenger had been traded to the Union. In return, the Impact picking up from the city of brotherly love Jack McInerney. A raw talent, who just like the Impact, got off to a flyer in 2013. McInerneys Midas touch in front of goal through spring 2013 got such rave reviews it got the attention of Americas favourite German, Jürgen Klinsman - who named the Tennessee native to last summers US Gold Cup squad.  Living in this era of instant gratification, the Twitter jury needed no time to deliberate on which club got the better of the deal. It still baffles why in 2012s Super Draft Jesse Marsch took Wenger when the considered opinion was Darren Mattocks. Not meant as a slight to Wenger, its just that Mattocks ticked much more of the better prospect boxes going forward. In a chat I had with Mattocks on the eve of that draft, the young Jamaican said he modeled his game on Liverpools Fernando Torres. Having watched Wenger up close over this time Im still not sure he himself is fully convinced he can fulfill whats required of an out and out striker in MLS. However moving to his home club provides Wenger with perfect opportunity to fulfill his potential and prove all his naysayers wrong.  As for the Impact, the diminutive McInerney - whose goal production dramatically dried up as the 2013 season wore on – working in tandem with Di Vaio is a mouth-watering prospect. Learn at the Italians shoulder he most certainly must. Thats for the future. As is which club ultimately reap the greatest rewards for the deal. Saturdays match brings together a pair of teams still in search of their first three-point outing of the season. For those who state the Impacts poor start is merely a continuation of their shambolic under- performing selfs from the end of 2013, how then to quantify the Red Bulls poor start? This was a club which marched quite resplendently to a Supporters Shield title on the back of a sole defeat in their last 10 matches. This season has been a mirror of 2013s 0-2-2 start for the Red Bulls thanks to a 95th minute goal from defender Péguy Luyindula during last Sunday afternoons 1-1 draw at home against Chivas. Nobody needs reminding how the Impact salvaged the late tie against McInerney et al in Chester, PA.  Guilty as charged. Hands up. Not only did I think Di Vaio would take at least a few games to get in the groove and find his scoring boots afterr serving his 3 match suspension I also wondered without his school child friend Alessandro Nesta no longer in tow how that would affect. Marcus Mariota Jersey. Apparently not in the slightest. Whether or not the 38-year-old gets to take the same Olympic Stadium pitch with a certain 36-year-old Frenchman stepping out for the Red Bulls is quite literally up in the air. Henry trained with his team this morning at their multi-million dollar training facility in Hannover, NJ where following lunch they were due to board a late afternoon flight to Montreal. Thierry Henrys aversion to so termed plastic pitches is well established in his time in the league. He, along with 2010 MLS defender of the year Jamison Olave, stayed home when the Red Bulls opened their season in Vancouver. My, how they missed Olave as the Whitecaps set upon their opponent with a level and intensity any club will do well to match through the season! Which begs the question - what happens if the Whitecaps host the Red Bulls in the MLS Cup? Having arrived stateside following South Africa 2010, Henry is out of contract at the end of the season. Although not ever one to have the likes of Ellen DeGeneres have him suit up as a store clerk (Henrys more inclined to take the subway to work) there is no denying the additional magic the ex-Arsenal and Barca man has provided MLS. Im told Henry has quite the goal scoring record against the Impact. Goals have been in the shortest of supplies for the Impact so far this season - whilst conversely they are still conceding the softest of goals. As they did through the course of the pre-season. Elementary defensive errors are supposed to be the easiest to iron out as a season progresses.  Four of the Impacts next five games are at home – including, as they see it, their real home opener at Saputo Stadium on April 26 against McInerneys old flame the Philadelphia Union. There can be no more excuses. Unless a fully 90-minute focused team shows up and even without the services of one of the most feared strike forces at their disposal you can be sure the Red Bulls will exploit a team low in confidence and likely at its most vulnerable since Davy Arnaud led them out in Vancouver back in March of 2012. An expected crowd of 25,000 plus will be hoping that team which started 2013 so magnificently rediscover that form. As does the Impacts new recruit who will take the Olympic Stadium action in from his suburban Philadelphia home. Dont be surprised after last Saturdays unprecedented show of emotion and walk down Expos memory way if the aroma of peanuts and crackerjack is still in the air. NEWARK, N. C. J. Prosise Jersey .J. - With less than half the season to go, the New Jersey Devils are in danger of missing the playoffs for the third straight year and for the fourth time in five.Coming out of the all-star break, the teams chances dont look good. New Jersey (17-22-8) is in 14th place in the Eastern Conference, 15 points out of a wildcard spot with 35 games to play. It has to jump over six teams in less than three months. There are positives. The Devils will play 21 of 35 games at the Prudential Center, starting Wednesday night against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The team (5-5-1) also seems to be playing better since general manger and president Lou Lamoriello, and assistant coaches Adam Oates and Scott Stevens took over for the fired Pete DeBoer in late December.Weve got to build off what we did before the break, said goaltender Cory Schneider, who has a .920 save percentage. I think it comes down to consistency, night in, night out. ... We have played against good teams and beat good teams, and we have also shown if we dont come ready to play teams will make us look really bad.The Devils record (17-22-8) is not good although the team has had several injuries. Captain Bryce Salvador, forwards Mike Cammalleri (a team-high 15 goals), Patrik Elias and Martin Havlat all missed at least 10 games.Centre Adam Henrique, who has a team-high 26 points, said the only thing the Devils can do now is focus on the next game and not the big picture. If you look at it and say Geez, thats a big mountain to climb I think its a little worse that way, he said. We had a good trip before the break and the guys are back, fresh and excited. We just have to chip away at it slowly.Defenceman Andy Greene said the changes instituted by the new triumvirate are working. While he would not point out a specific change, he said the players are just trying to be smarter on the ice, not get caught out of position late in shifts and play more cohesive hockey as five-man units. We have to string some wins together and get ourselves into the conversation, Greene said. There is a pride factor and you have to play for the guy next to you.Veteran Scott Gomez, who didnt get a contract coming out of training camp but has since signed and played 23 games, likes this team. He thinks they play hard every night. You can look at the points and say how thats it, Gomez said. Im telling you, well make it interesting. BURNABY, B. Xavier Woods Jersey .C. - For all the talk about a more mature Kyle Lowry this pre-season, his actions in one particular practice this week spoke louder than words.Toronto Raptors GM Masai Ujiri watched intently as the telling sequence of events unfolded. Lowry made a great pass to Jonas Valanciunas. Valanciunas then bobbled the ball.Kyle just turned away. Last year it would be different. There would be (anger), Ujiri said Saturday on the eve of Torontos pre-season opener in Vancouver. And then he turned right back and went to Jonas and gave him two high fives and tapped him.It was gone, on to the next (thing). It shows growth. . . And it was a crucial time of the scrimmage. The Raptors 28-year-old point guard signed a four-year contract worth US$48 million this past off-season. It came just weeks after he firmly established himself as the teams heart and soul in a thrilling playoff series with the Brooklyn Nets. There was talk about Lowrys temper when he arrived in Toronto two seasons ago. Arguably the teams hardest worker, hes a natural leader by example.(But) sometimes with Kyle before, it was how was the message delivered, Ujiri said. (His reaction to Valanciunas) shows me hes maturing and he knows the buttons to press. They control the whole game, he added, of the point guards role. They are also the coach on the floor. Hes got that mind. Hes got the leadership in him to run a team. The Raptors tip-off the pre-season against the Sacramento Kings on Sunday in front of a capacity crowd at Rogers Arena. The game caps a strong training camp for Lowry, who arrived back from the off-season in unbelievable shape, Ujiri said. The Raptors chart all the players in virtually every play in every practice throughout the week, keeping track of everything from loose balls won to rebounds and deflections. Lowry has topped the charts, according to Ujiri. All of the competitions and stuff that they do, whether its shooting or three-on-three, whatever it is they do, (Lowrys) team always is on top, Ujiri said.He plays hard. He has the edge. Thats the honest truth: He does have an edge. And he wants to win. Hes very competitive every single game. Theres something about winning.Coach Dwane Casey has also noticed a calmer Lowry this season. The fire and brimstone is more under control, the coach said.Lowry still prefers to lead by example.Im more of a go-hard every single day and guys follow my lead, that type of thing, he said. I dont focus in on Oh, Im the leader, Im the leader. I focus in on being me and playing hard and doing whatever it takes to win games.Starting with Lowry a€” who announced on Twitter he planned to re-sign with Toronto, posting a picture of himself in a throwback No. 15 Raptors jersey, to represent the 2014-15 season a€” the Raptors retained their core from last season. It provided consistency that the players say has been huge.It means everything, DeRozan said. Especially for me, personally, because I never really had the consistent group of guys that I could play with. The chemistry that we had last year, that we built between every single guy, was amazing.Lowry called DeRozan first and confirmed he was staying put in Toronto. But DeRozan was never worried.I never gave him a sales pitch, I was just trying to support him, honestly, as a friend, DeRozan said. My whole sales pitch was all last season, the things me and him did together (on the court) spoke for itself. So I didnt have to say anything.Amir Johnson, who along with DeRozan is the longest serving Raptor a€” they both arrived in 2009 a€” also wasnt worried about the core being back this season.Pretty much we all knew, Johnson said. After that last Game 7 (a heartbreaking one-point loss to the Nets), we all sat around in the locker-room and all looked at each other and told each other that we want to do it again. We all knew everyone was coming back. There was no doubt in my mind.Following Sunday, the Raptors will travel to Sacramento to face the Kings again on Tuesday. Theyll play their first pre-season game in Toronto on Friday versus the Boston Celtics. The Raptors open the regular-season at home against the Atlanta Hawks on Oct. 29.Sacramentos visit to Vancouver also marks the NBA debut of Canadians Nik Stauskas and Sim Bhullar.Stauskas, from Mississauga, Ont., was the eighth overall pick in the NBA draft, while Bhullar, from Toronto, signed with the Kings to join training camp, becoming the first player of Indian descent to sign a contract with an NBA team. Charles Haley Jersey . CARSON, Calif. Cameron Maybin Jersey . -- Keith Thurman had an unenviable act to follow when Lucas Matthysse and John Molina Jr. put on a bloody 11-round slugfest right before he stepped in the same ring with Julio Diaz. Although Thurman couldnt match Matthysses pyrotechnics, the rising welterweight still managed a big finish. Thurman remained unbeaten Saturday night, stopping Diaz after three rounds when Diazs corner threw in the towel due to an injured rib. Thurman (23-0, 21 KOs), nicknamed "One-Time" for his one-punch knockout power, retained his WBA interim welterweight title. He floored Diaz in the second round before delivering the body shot that led Diaz to quit on his stool on a chilly night before the usual energized crowd at the outdoor ring south of Los Angeles. Although he had a short night, Thurman still demonstrated his formidable skill and power in his seventh fight in less than two years. "Hes a warrior, but he just couldnt take the punishment," Thurman said about Diaz. "No one knows the power of One-Time until they step in the ring with One-Time. We did the work in the gym. How did you think I was able to look this good?" A left to the temple dropped Diaz, although he stayed on his unsteady feet for a moment before taking a knee and getting up to beat the count. Thurman remembered the punch that evidently injured Diazs rib, but thought Diaz (40-10-1) had partially blocked it. "We were able to put that pain and that hurt on him like were supposed to," Thurman said. The main event was an anticlimax after a tenacious performance by Matthysse (35-3, 33 KOs), who overcame two early knockdowns and stopped Molina early in the 11th round of the Argentine 140-pound stars dynamite return to the ring. Matthysse knocked down the bleeding Molina in each of the final three rounds, culminating in a decisive combination. Matthysse hadnt fought since injuring his eye and losing a decision to 140-pound champion Danny Garcia last September, but he was right back in destructive form. "It did take me a few rounds to get going, but I was able to take control of the fight," Matthysse said. "The knockdowns threw me off a little, but I was able to get my punches in." That defeat interrupted the rapid rise of the hard-punching Argentine known as "The Machine," and he returned with what many expected to be a simple fight against Molina (27-4), a Los Angeles-area fighter who infamously got knocked out in the first round of a title shot in 2012. But Molina showed he was no pushover from the opening round, knocking back Matthysse with a big right hand. Another chopping right out of a clinch in the second round sent Matthysse to his knees on just his second career knockdown. Although Matthysse controlled long stretches of the bout with his jab and power, he went down again late in the fifth after winning much of the round, dropping to his knees on a punch to the top of his head. Matthysse immediately indicated the punch was illegal in the back of his head, but referee Pat Russell ruled it a knockdown. "I thought I was going to get him out of there early, but he got it together," Molina said. "Theres a reason hes the No. 1 guy in the division. I took his shot all the way through, and I didnt feel it until the end." Despite a cut near his left eye, Matthysse kept using his jab and power against Molina, who had a large cut on the left side of his head. Matthysse then knocked down Molina late in the eighth round with a left hand and a possible push before punishing him throughout the ninth. Matthysse dropped Molina again in the 10th round with a combination on the ropes. Molina crumpled into the corner on a relentless barrage of punches early in the 11th, and Matthysse leaped on the ropes to celebrate. Omar Figueroa Jr. (23-0-1) also retained his WBC lightweight title with a dull split-decision victory over Jerry Belmontes. U.S. Olympians Joseph Diaz Jr. and Terrell Gausha both remained unbeaten on the undercard. Nolan Ryan Jersey . It is unclear how long Kallstrom, who was brought in to alleviate the teams midfield problems, will be sidelined. Arsenals communications director, Mark Gonnella, says the club decided to proceed with Kallstroms signing despite the injury. Darin Erstad Jersey . Both sides of the deal have formally announced acquisitions: TFC introduced Jozy Altidore as a designated player on Friday, while their counterparts announced a three-and-a-half-year deal with Jermain Defoe.ST. PAUL, Minn. -- On a night when each goalie was at the top of his game, it took a video review to decide the winner. Ryan Johansen scored in the fourth round of the shootout to lift the Columbus Blue Jackets to a 2-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night. Johansens shot initially was ruled a rebound, but a video review showed that Wild goalie Darcy Kuemper did not touch the puck, making it a legal shootout goal. "Good job, Toronto," Johansen said, referring to the video review team in the NHL offices. "I knew I scored. I just didnt know what they were talking about at first." The shootout capped a night of brilliant goaltending from the Blue Jackets Sergei Bobrovsky and Minnesotas Kuemper. Bobrovsky, last years Vezina Trophy winner, stopped 32 of 33 shots through overtime, while Kuemper finished with 28 saves. In three games at the Xcel Energy Center, Bobrovsky is 3-0 and has allowed just four goals on 90 shots. "I dont know what it is," Columbus coach Todd Richards said. "I dont know if its being in Minnesota, or if theres something in this building, (but it) certainly looks like hes comfortable playing in this building, and hes the main reason why we got two points tonight." In the shootout, Zach Parise and Mikko Koivu put Minnesota ahead 2-0, but Artem Anisimov and Mark Letestu rallied the Blue Jackets with goals and Bobrovsky shut down the Wild the rest of the way to set up Johansens clincher. The Wild wrapped up a four-game homestand with a 1-0-3 record. Losing three shootouts in a week could have left a sour taste in their mouths, but coach Mike Yeo chose to focus on the positives after the game. "You lose in a shootout and it paints an ugly picture. Im actually happy with the way our guys battled in this game," said Yeo, whose team increased its lead over Dallas to five points in the race for seventh place in the Western Conference. "I thought we generated some great quality chances tonight. I thought we defended hard." On a night that featured just two regulation goals and one penalty, it took almost 40 minutes ffor somebody to score. Custom Los Angeles Angels Jerseys. Columbus finally broke through on a goal by Dalton Prout with 21.6 seconds to play in the second period. Prout took a pass from Jack Johnson at the top of the slot and fired a slap shot that deflected off Wild defenceman Jonas Brodins knee and past Kuemper. The Wild tied it 3:12 into the third period on Jason Pominvilles team-leading 25th goal. Parise chased down a loose puck behind Columbus net and slipped a pass out front to Pominville, who beat Bobrovsky on his glove side to make it 1-1. Bobrovsky kept it tied with a pair of sterling saves on Charlie Coyle and Kyle Brodziak midway through the third. Coyle jumped on a funny hop off the end boards for a clear shot that Bobrovsky turned away, and later in the same shift Brodziak deflected a blast from the point that the Columbus goalie smothered. Meanwhile, the Wilds rookie goalie kept them in the game. Kuemper denied Derek MacKenzie from point-blank range and steered away or swallowed up anything the Blue Jackets sent his way. "When youre seeing the goalie down there making saves, you dont want that to be the difference," Kuemper said. "You want to do your job as well. So you just try to go with him, stop for stop." Bobrovskys biggest save of the night might have been one that didnt even count. With just under 2 minutes left in regulation, Parise centred the puck from the left boards. Blue Jackets forward Nathan Horton broke up the pass but almost inadvertently tipped it past Bobrovsky, who had to scramble to get his right skate on the puck and keep it out of the net.
